The hymns on this site come from the ELH hymnal of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod. The hymnal has it’s own site here. The hymns could be used by anyone, regardless of what hymnal you use, just keep in mind the hymn might not be what you expect. The hymns come preset to a piano sound. Many MIDI file editors could change the sound to any of your choosing. See the links page. These files can be altered to your liking, but they may not be sold, and cannot be used for any propose other than your own personal enjoyment. They may also be used in a church setting where a computer plays the music. If you make any changes, PLEASE send them to me and I will include them on the web page. |
The hymns will be updated from time to time. Check as often as you like, but don't expect regular updates. I do not know when (or if) I will get them all done. It takes a while for one person to do all this work, so if anyone is willing to help make MIDI hymns, please contact me.
A special thanks goes out the Chuck Fiedler for providing me with many MIDI files, and letting me include them in the archive. He gave me about 40 midi files, and I have included those that I have not already done in the archive. Thanks goes to the Cyber Hymnal website at http://www.cyberhymnal.org. Also see the file contrib.txt in the hymn download for more contributors and information.
The hymns contain duplicates, so if an identical melody/harmony set is used more than once in the hymnal, it may be in the archive more than once. Please be aware that some hymns in ELH have the same tune, yet different harmonies.
